for those who find themselves attracted to liturgy but don't know why, for those immersed in liturgy and want to think more deeply about it, and for those who wonder if it is worth committing themselves to a liturgical church.Which of these groups do you fall into?
What does the word "liturgy" mean to you?
How would you describe your "liturgical journey"?

ReplyDeleteFor some reason I can't get my "comments" to post on the blog site?? Hope it's O.K. I'm sending this in email form.
First of all, thanks so much for setting up the blog, since I already know I will miss the first session, I will be anxious to read what others have to say. I have read the Introduction (as I waited in line to get my car washed...I hate to waste time in the car so was glad to have my book with me!) and am anxious to read more. I feel that I am one who is "immersed in our liturgy" and I want to think more deeply about it. "Liturgy" to me not only includes the reading of the lessons and Gospel, but also every ritual that is included in our Episcopal service: Holy water, communion, incense, the sign of the cross, etc. etc.) My liturgical journey has broadened and deepened as I have gotten more mature, and have had more time to participate in various Adult Ed. classes and studies. It seemed as a young wife and mother I was more concerned about my children and their christian upbringing, Sunday School, Confirmation classes, etc. with little time for enhancing my own christian education. As my spirituality has grown, so has my understanding and appreciation for our liturgy. I am ALWAYS happy to learn more and have discussion with others to hear different perspectives on issues. I am really looking forward to these classes.
Just a couple of my thoughts.
